Software and cloud company whose AI division, Microsoft AI, was formed in March 2024 under Mustafa Suleyman. Microsoft invested in OpenAI from 2019 and holds about 27 percent of OpenAI Group PBC after the October 2025 restructuring, which also freed it to pursue AGI on its own. Since March 2026 Suleyman's team has concentrated on Microsoft's in-house MAI models, while Copilot is run by Jacob Andreou.
